  • Counselling is an opportunity to explore and make sense of your situation in a confidential, supportive space without judgement or advice. It can sometimes be difficult to reach out to friends and family around you, counselling offers the opportunity to share with someone impartial in a relationship that is unique to counselling.

If you are feeling lost, low, or perhaps life has lost it's sparkle, seeing a counsellor may be helpful for you.

It can be a positive step in the right direction to help you explore any issues troubling you or help you make sense of life choices which could lead to a happier fulfilled existence.

Each session is yours to use as you wish. You are the expert in your own life, we work together moving at your pace to look at the parts of your life causing you pain, distress or anything stopping you from being yourself.

I can work with anxiety, depression, low mood, shame, anger, young people, relationships, gender, sexuality or anything else causing you angst.

Please note I work with individuals aged 16yrs and above

I do not work with anyone under 16 or couples

  • Hi, I am Sam and I am passionate about people and helping them through difficult times, situations and problems life can throw their way.

I am an integrative therapist, which means I have been professionally trained in a variety of counselling theories. This enables me to adapt to your needs and personalise each session to fit you.

I aim to offer a relationship in which you are free to be completely you and a space to feel safe, heard and accepted. Having been through therapy myself, I understand how daunting the process can be, it is not easy, I can support you every step of the way as we work together to try and achieve the peace, the acceptance or whatever it is you are striving for.

I volunteered for over two years as a counsellor for a cancer charity working with cancer patients and their families and also counselled within a local 6th form college, working with students with a huge range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality.

  • I work from my purpose built cabin in Farnham covering parts of Surrey & Hampshire

Home visits are available ~ contact me for more information

Sessions are held in my cabin and are private and confidential

    I also offer online sessions

There are steps into my garden and cabin so this is unfortunately not accessible for wheel chair users ~ home visits are available

Counselling in the comfort of your own home

For some people it may not possible to get to a counselling session, therefore I also offer home visits where I can come and see you in the comfort of your own home

A 30-minute telephone consultation will be required before the home visit and to ensure our sessions are completely confidential I ask that there be a suitable private space available

Additional fees for time and travel will be incurred ~ please contact me to discuss

  • I have a small cockapoo called Ted. He is not a therapy dog ~ because he likes to eat tissues and jump in the space you are about to sit down in , just before you do.

He may join us from time to time to allow you to feed him treats!

If you would prefer not to have him with us, please do let me know ~ neither of us will be offended!

  • Your session is yours to use as you wish. I will be led by you and what you would like to discuss.

Generally, we would meet on the same day, at the same time, each week for 50 minutes. Although, I understand this is not suitable for everyone and aim to be flexible where necessary.

Most commonly sessions are weekly however some people prefer fortnightly sessions. This is your choice and we would discuss the best course of action for you.

As with session day and time, the frequency of sessions is not set in stone and can also be changed and amended when required.

  • This is totally dependent on you and what you are coming to therapy for.

Everyone is unique and there is no one size fits all. We will discuss this and see what feels right for you.

Beginning with six sessions provides the opportunity to determine if we are compatible and if the counselling is beneficial for you.

We will review regularly throughout our sessions to track progress.

  • Each counselling session is 50 minutes long and charged at £60 a session.

Evening sessions after 6pm are charged at £65.

I ask for payment via bank transfer to secure your initial appointment. Payment is then required 24hrs before each session.

  • Life happens and there may be unforeseen circumstances where sessions need to be rescheduled.

Where possible I ask for 24 hrs notice and I am happy to try and reschedule if a suitable time is available.

If less than 24hrs notice is given, a cancellation charge of 75% of your session fee will be required.

If you do not attend your appointment with no notice given, the full session fee will be required.

Unfortunately, if you are more than 20 minutes late for your session, the session will be unable to go ahead and the full session fee will be required.

  • If we decide to work together part of our first session will be dedicated to discussing our working agreement, including my commitment to keeping your personal information safe, confidentiality and circumstances where confidentiality may be breached in order to keep you or others safe.

Your privacy is of the upmost importance to me, not only during our sessions but in regards to any personal information I hold for you. I work in line with the government General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), am a member of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and abide by the NCPS ethical framework. I have set out clearly below what information I hold, how I store it, who it might be shared with and limits to confidentiality.

Personal details I hold include: Your name, date of birth, address, email address and telephone number, GP and next of kin details for use in an emergency and with your permission, and relevant medical history. These details are held in a secure cabinet and are destroyed after 7 years.

During your therapy, I will keep notes containing factual information. These notes are anonymised and will only contain a reference I will assign to you and are kept within a secure cabinet away from your personal information and will be destroyed after 7 years. Your notes are confidential, you may ask to see them at any time and I am only legally required to disclose these to a judge or coroner with a court order.

Any correspondence via phone or email is via password protected computers and mobiles that only I have access to. I will store your number with your reference only.

Your safety is of paramount importance and part of my work is to keep you safe. It is imperative to our work that you feel confident and able to share anything with me.
