Counselling in Farnham

If you prefer to meet face to face, I offer individual counselling from my private counselling room in Farnham.

Having somewhere separate from home to come and talk can be helpful. It gives you dedicated time and space away from everyday life, where the focus can be completely on you.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. You may have something specific going on, or you may just know that you haven't been feeling quite like yourself.

We can start with where you are.

A space to talk openly

Counselling gives you somewhere to talk about the things that might be difficult to say elsewhere.

You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship or family difficulties, struggling with your confidence or identity, trying to make sense of past experiences, or feeling overwhelmed by something happening in your life now.

Sometimes there isn't one obvious reason for coming to counselling at all.

Whatever brings you, I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel heard.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I don't believe one particular way of working will suit everyone.

Our sessions will be led by you and what feels important, while I listen, ask questions, notice patterns with you and gently challenge things when it may be helpful.

Sometimes we may explore the past and how it is affecting you now. At other times we might focus much more on what is happening in your life today or find practical ways of managing something that feels difficult.

There isn't a right way to do counselling and you don't need to prepare anything before you come.

You can simply turn up as you are.

What is it like coming for counselling?

Starting counselling can feel a little daunting, particularly if you haven't had therapy before.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to counselling.

There is no expectation that you tell me everything straight away.

The relationship you have with your counsellor matters, so it is also a chance for you to get a feel for me and decide whether working together feels right for you.

My counselling room is a private space in Farnham where we can meet without the interruptions of everyday life.

You may also occasionally meet Ted, my cockapoo. He sometimes joins me during sessions, but if you would prefer him not to be there, just let me know - that is absolutely fine.

Who do I work with?

I offer individual counselling to adults and young people aged 16 and over.

People come to me for many different reasons, including:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Low mood and depression

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Shame and self-criticism

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences

  • Identity, gender and sexuality

  • Illness and health-related worries

  • Death anxiety

  • Anger

  • Life changes, loss and uncertainty

You don't need to fit neatly into one of these areas. Often several things are going on at the same time.
